Our biggest difference is that unlike other university presses we have a social mission as a not-for-profit organisation that aims to improve social conditions.
We publish titles that have an impact on research, learning, policy and practice and our authors work is often quoted by ministers, used in green papers and parliamentary briefings.
The team is fully committed to social justice. We practise what we preach with staff supporting a different small local charity annually with activities from cake sales to sponsored events supported by social media and online campaigns.
Policy Press was created to make a positive difference to society, not just as an academic end in itself or to support shareholders. We reinvest in our publishing activities, which benefits authors, customers and the community.
“Time and again Policy Press has published provocative and profound books on the vital topics of our day. We need publishers like this.”
Melissa Benn, journalist, campaigner
“Policy Press has a critical role to play in our global political discourse. They deliver thoughtful titles on the issues that truly challenge our times.”
Sam Pizzigati, IPS, Washington
"Over the past two decades Policy Press has grown into a crucial source of wisdom, challenge and analysis."
Nicholas Timmins, Kings Fund and Financial Times
“Policy Press are dedicated to publishing that counts and serves a wider purpose, producing books with care and craftsmanship. Their books make a difference.”
