Dr Kayleigh Garthwaite, author of Hunger pains: Life inside foodbank Britain, is a Leverhulme Trust funded researcher in the Centre for Health and Inequalities Research, Durham University, UK. Kayleigh explores issues of health inequalities, welfare reform, and austerity through ethnographic research. She is co-author of Poverty and insecurity: Life in 'low-pay, no-pay' Britain (Policy Press, 2012), winner of the 2013 British Academy Peter Townsend Award.

Dr Pamela Irving Jackson, a Fulbright scholar, is Director of the Justice Studies Program and Professor of Sociology at Rhode Island College, where she received the Thorp Professorship for Outstanding Scholarship and the Maixner Distinguished Teaching Award. She served on the editorial board of the American Sociological Review.

Jacobson, Jessica
Dr Jessica Jacobson is Co-Director of the Institute for Criminal Policy Research and was formerly a Senior Research Officer for the Home Office. She undertakes research and publishes widely on many different aspects of the criminal justice system including prisons, sentencing, and the work of the criminal courts more widely. Her recent publications include Inside Crown Court: Personal experiences and questions of legitimacy (Policy Press, 2015).
